What we are

The Zakat Calculator is an independent, free-to-use website that helps Muslims calculate Zakat and understand the Islamic-finance rules behind it. You can value your gold, silver, cash, savings, business assets and other wealth against the current nisab threshold, and see what — if anything — is due.

It is important to be clear about what we are not. We are not a registered charity, we do not collect or distribute donations, and we are not an official fatwa council or government authority. We do not issue rulings that bind anyone. We are also not, at the time of writing, certified or supervised by a named scholar or review board. We build calculators and reference pages; the decision of where and how to pay your Zakat remains entirely yours.

Why we built it

Working out Zakat should not require a spreadsheet, a paid app, or handing your financial details to a third party. Many people put off the calculation simply because the nisab figure moves with the gold and silver markets and the per-asset rules can feel daunting.

We built this site to make an accurate, private Zakat calculation freely available to everyone. The tools cost nothing to use, carry no sign-up wall, and are designed to explain each step rather than hide the method. Our aim is to remove the friction between wanting to pay Zakat correctly and actually doing so.

How the tools work

The calculator pulls live gold and silver spot prices so the nisab threshold reflects current market values rather than a stale figure. You can choose your currency, and where the Sunni schools of thought differ — for example on whether nisab is measured against gold or silver — the tool lets you follow the position of your madhhab.

The results we produce are informed guidance to help you understand your obligation. They are not a fatwa, and they do not replace a qualified scholar who can weigh the specifics of your situation. We say this plainly because Zakat is an act of worship, and getting it right matters.

We hold ourselves to a simple rule: we do not invent anything. We do not fabricate hadith wording, scholarly quotes, statistics, or figures to make the site look more authoritative than it is. Where we rely on the Qur’an, the Sunnah, or the positions of the four schools, we say so and we describe our method openly. Languages and tools we offer

Alongside the core Zakat calculator, the site includes reference material on the nisab threshold, Zakat on gold and other assets, Zakat al-Fitr, and related giving obligations. We are expanding the calculators and translating key pages over time so that more people can use the site in their own language. Because this is an ongoing project, some tools and translations are still in progress rather than finished — we would rather add them carefully than promise more than is live today.

How to give feedback or corrections

We are not infallible, and markets, rulings and best practice all move. If you spot an error — a wrong figure, an unclear explanation, or a rule that does not match your school — we want to hear about it.
